No Barrier of being Blind: The 50 Years Anniversary of Hong Kong Disability Self-help Group
Editor: Hong Kong Blind Union
ISBN: 9789881684738
Visual impairers in Hong Kong have been organising self-help movements for 50 years, in order to overcome discriminations and prejudice brought by the visual disability, to strike for equal opportunities and basic human rights, and to voice out and to create their own future. By organising social, educational, cultural and leisure activities, public education campaigns, conducting research and involving in government’s consultation, the Hong Kong Blind Union is able to define blinds’ needs and provide services accordingly. These self-help movements also allow the Union to provide policy recommendations to the government and opinions to service organisations.
Jointly recommended by Mr. Matthew Cheung Kin-chung, Mrs. Helen Yu Lai Ching-ping, Dr. Joseph Jao-Yiu Sung, Mr. Lin Peili.
